TEDxUChicago 2017: Changing Channels

In years past, the TEDxUChicago conference has been centered around themes such as "Exploring the Incredible Unknown," "Making No Little Plans," and "On the Margin". This past year, at TEDxUChicago 2017: Changing Channels we explored and expanded the ideas of innovation and metamorphosis. From politics to protests, and messaging to meaning, Changing Channels evokes the idea of new methods and the possibility of change. As we grapple with adjustments in government, policies, and institutions all over the globe, TEDxUChicago aims to provide a space for reflection, innovation, and inspiration.

Time: May 6th, 2017

Location: Logan Center for the Arts, Performance Hall

About TEDx

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks videos and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self- organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.

About TEDxUChicago

TEDxUChicago is a local, independently organized TEDx event held at the University of Chicago and organized by students at the University. Now into its sixth year, TEDxUChicago aims to provide, like TED, a platform where the smartest thinkers, greatest visionaries, and most fascinating teachers will be inspired and have the opportunity to inspire others. And that’s just the audience — just wait until you hear the speakers! In the past few years, the organization has brought over forty speakers of various backgrounds and fields to share their ideas on campus and spark discussions beyond the TEDx stage and event.

Our TEDx talks are viewed worldwide online, and have reached as many as 260,000+ views. In the past, we have sold out both 470 and 830-seat auditoriums, and attendees came from all areas of Chicago, from University students to people throughout the Midwest to Australian visitors from the global TEDx community.
