Robert Lipman, a 19-year-old from Davis, California, is a member of The University of Chicago College Class of 2016. Realizing that many of his meals would be eaten on the go, he decided to recreate the nostalgic feeling of being at home with the family – but with a twist. Before he had even begun his first class, he created The Hearth, an underground restaurant at UChicago that unites 12 people from all corners of campus over an elaborate four-course dinner. Once a month, The Hearth provides a space for students and professors to gather together in unexpected and intimate settings and connect at the dinner table. From the menu to the location to the guests, Robert’s dinners are full of surprises and were recently featured on Serious Eats. He plans to major in Economics and Political Science. When he’s not studying, you can find Robert exploring downtown, playing tennis, or eating Nutella.
