Ryan Holiday is Director of Marketing at American Apparel and the bestselling author of Trust Me, I'm Lying: Confessions of a Media ManipulatorGrowth Hacker Marketing: A Primer on the Future of PR, Marketing, and Advertising, and the forthcoming The Obstacle Is the Way: The Timeless Art of Turning Adversity to Advantage (May 2014). He is also the Editor at Large of Betabeat, the New York Observer's home for tech news.  

He is a leading media strategist whose campaigns have been studied by YouTube, Twitter, and Google, and covered in Fast CompanyAd Age, and Gawker. He has served as an assistant for the likes of Tucker Max (AB '98) and Dov Charney. He is also a Partner at StoryArk Creative, whose list of clients include Robert Greene, Tim Ferriss, creativeLIVE, American Apparel, and Paulo Coehlo. 

He has done all of the above after dropping out of college at the age of 19.
